My passion for motorcycles began at the age of seven, and riding has been a major part of my life ever since. With decades of riding experience and a commitment to road safety, I established First Gear Motorcycle Training in 2017 to provide high-quality rider and driver training in Auckland.
I am NZTA accredited to deliver Basic Handling Skills Tests, CBTA Restricted Licence Assessments, and CBTA Full Licence Assessments. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of riders develop the skills, confidence, and road awareness needed to ride safely and achieve their licensing goals.
In addition to motorcycle training, I have delivered Defensive Driving Courses through the AA, helping drivers improve their safety, knowledge, and decision-making on New Zealand roads.
At First Gear, I believe every rider learns differently. That's why I specialise in personal one-on-one coaching, tailoring each lesson to the individual's experience, ability, and goals. Whether you're getting on a motorcycle for the first time, preparing for a licence assessment, or looking to sharpen your riding skills, my goal is to help you become a safer, more confident rider.
I look forward to helping you take the next step in your riding journey.

‘CBTA” Confidence Based Training Assessment is an Assessment Based on the Learnings of Roadcraft and will look at your overall riding ability while out on the road. Once you have your Learner class 6 motorcycle license, you can sit the CBTA Restricted assessment soon as you feel confident. Although training isn't compulsory; we do highly recommend completing some training before attempting this assessment. (A Minimum Age of 16.5 is Required to apply for any Restricted License.)
You can apply for your Full Class 6 Motorcycle license once you have held your Restricted motorcycle license for a minimum 12 months. CBTA assessment can be done after 9 months but the licensing agent will not accept your certificate until the one-year anniversary.
More information can be found by downloading the ‘CBTA COURSE GUIDE” on NZTA website.
