Basic Handling Skills

To be rewarded a Basic Handling Skills certificate the rider must be able to

  • look in the correct direction

  • signal correctly

  • make head checks before changing position

  • maintain lateral position of motorcycle

  • control the motorcycle

  • use appropriate speed

  • If you have never ridden a motorcycle with manual gears before, this is the perfect option for you. With a full two hours of comprehensive training, you are setting yourself up to pass the Basic Handling Skills Test.

    Note: more time may be required to confidently pass the test.

  • This would be for someone who has already been on a motorcycle before and is confident to sit their test.

    Note: You do have to meet the test criteria and pass before you can be awarded a BHST Basic Handling Skills certificate.
